No Defunding our Police

I have and always will support full funding of our Police Department. I've supported hiring more officers and I'd like to add more Community Service Officers and Code Enforcement Officers as well to address more quality of life issues.

If changes need to be made to ensure an absence of discrimination in our policing, we’ll deal with those by changing our practices and procedures, not by defunding. I agree that our police are now doing more than they ever had to, and have to fill many different roles on a daily basis. And if some of our calls are better served by a social worker or mental health clinician, I'm all for that. But we're always going to need our police department and Manhattan Beach has a great one.

Issues

As a lifelong resident of Manhattan Beach, I've seen a lot of change, some good, some not so good. My mission is to keep Manhattan Beach the special place that it is, and my approach is simple:

  • Keep what works
  • Fix what doesn't
  • And never forget that I work for you, the residents of Manhattan Beach

While issues will come and go, my approach to them is simple as well--get all the information I can, listen to everyone and do the right thing.
